Description
Can you believe that the Corvette program was nearly cancelled by GM due to very lack luster sales in the early years, but decided to make necessary improvements because Ford was developing a two-seater that became the Thunderbird. The first generation of the Corvette was debuted late 1953 and would run through 1962. The prototype was code-named “Project Opel” and the result was the hand-built EX122. This particular stunning example comes to us from long-term ownership of nearly forty years. It had a restoration completed in 1994/1995 and still shows exceptionally well. This appears to be a numbers matching example with all of the part numbers listed in the pictures. Most of the receipts accompany the car as well. At the time of restoration a couple items were not put back in the car like the arm rests and the window washer pump which we do have the original pump. This car starts right up, idles nicely and goes through all the gears with ease. This is a striking example with excellent care and ownership with plenty of history and paperwork that commands a second look if you are in the market for a wonderful example.
