Description

This is an original Egli-Vincent Black Shadow Lightning. The bike here, Serial number EV5, was one of just a handful of bikes built by Fritz Egli himself. It was one of 4 bikes built for US customers in 1968 and believed to have been used in the 1968 Cycle World track tests. A few years back, the bike was discovered in a dry Chicago warehouse and since has received a light mechanical refresh and it does start, run and ride. It features its original 998cc engine, “Bean” gas tank, Campagnolo disc brakes, twin Amal carbs, drop handle bars, cafe racer seat, etc.

Dressed in a sleek black-on-black finish, this Egli-Vincent embodies the aggressive yet refined aesthetic that defined the café racer movement. The alloy components and spoked wheels add to its vintage racing appeal, while the Smiths gauges on the dash showcase its heritage. This example features a custom seat, rear-set foot controls, and an overall stripped-down design that stays true to its performance roots.

An icon of speed and style, this 1968 Egli-Vincent is a true café racer legend, blending the engineering prowess of Vincent Motorcycles with the lightweight, performance-driven frameless design of Fritz Egli. Powered by a 998cc V-twin, the Egli-Vincent delivers the raw power and unmistakable character that make Vincents some of the most sought-after motorcycles in history.

It is believed that less than 10 of these original bikes were built. Whether you’re a collector seeking a rare piece of motorcycle history or a rider looking for an uncompromisingly raw and exhilarating experience, this Egli-Vincent is an opportunity to own a machine that represents the golden era of performance motorcycling. Ready to ride or restore.
